The Fosters is back!!!!
Yes, the mid-season premier was last night and they came back in true Fosters fashion!
There was no easing back into things, we jumped straight in with the drama and the tears and the insanity.
Connor’s dad has an eye opening moment as his son prepares to move to be with his mother, Stef gets some scary news from the doctor, Brandon gets an offer to audition for Julliard, Stef’s mom gets a boyfriend, and Mariana runs for junior class president! Not only that, but Mike learns the truth about who caused the accident and Callie meets a woman who wants to invest in Fost & Found.
Wow! How do they manage to fit all that into one episode without everyone going crazy? I have no idea, but it was amazing!
Now I’m not going to go into great detail about all these things cause that would take way too long and then there wouldn’t be anything left for you to see in the episode!
So, first of all, Connor, or rather, Connor’s dad, had a major breakthrough this week that had Jude (and myself) in tears. It was announced in the first half of the season that Connor would be moving to live with his mother. It was then announced last night that he didn’t want to move, but he had to because his dad just didn’t get it.
This admission is heartbreaking and one of the moments that reminds us just how relatable The Fosters is. Thanks to Jude and Lena, Connor’s dad has a moment of realization, but isn’t able to stop his son from leaving. However, the moment that had me in tears was when he goes to see Jude and apologizes for not getting it.
Raining on my face, seriously. This moment was so important, not just in The Fosters, but in TV in general. Something this show does is hold people accountable, whether they’re the child or the parent and to see Connor’s dad realizing he’d done wrong and that he feels bad for it, even if he still doesn’t fully understand, was so important and wonderful and I’m back to having all the emotions about The Fosters that I don’t know what to do with.
Actually, I do know what to do, move on before I continue this tangent. Let’s move on to Mike. Mike and Stef learned the truth tonight about who caused the car accident and it was as they (and many of us) suspected: AJ’s brother was behind the wheel.
Originally, Mike had planned on hiding this information after AJ and Ty’s grandmother died. He didn’t want to take away the last member of AJ’s family. While I get that and I get him not wanting to upset AJ when they’ve only just started to connect, come on Mike!
Stef, of course, found out, but she agreed to wait until after AJ’s grandmother’s funeral to arrest Ty. This didn’t make a difference though, as Ty admitted to his brother that he’d caused an accident and the two boys hop a bus to run away.
I honestly have no idea how this storyline is going to pan out, but since it didn’t seem like AJ really wanted to leave in the first place I’m guessing we’ll see him a lot sooner than it seems.
Alright, the final thing I want to talk about is Callie. She was approached by a lady who seemed nice at first and said she was interested in investing in Fost & Found. However, it soon became clear that this woman wasn’t all she appeared and seems to be set out to sabotage Callie rather than help her.
Callie meets someone else new this episode and that is a boy named Jack Downey, a foster kid who hates his foster family and is somehow connected to this woman who meets Callie.
I’m really intrigued to see where this whole thing is going. Who is this woman? What’s going on with Jack? Who is Jack? Why is the woman so interested in Callie?
So many questions and only a few days until we hopefully get some answers! Next week’s episode looks so good (no surprises there) and I can’t wait to watch it!
What did you think of Mondays episode? Any predictions on what’s going to happen next?
