Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Finals: Night 2 Recap!

Dancing With the Stars S21

What an AMAZING night! I can’t believe season 21 is over already, these past several weeks have flown by!

There were some fantastic performances and dances by past contestants as well as a look back on different moments that happened during the competition before we finally got to see the couples perform one final dance: The Fusion Dance.

The show opened in The Grove with a dance number performed by the pros and most of the past contestants from this season.

Chaka Khan returned and sang one of her hit songs, “I’m Every Woman” and Andy Grammer was also back to sing his hit single “Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah)”.

Kim and Tony finally got to perform their I Dream of Jeanie number that they didn’t get to do in the competition after Kim was forced to withdraw due to health reasons. Paula Deen and Louis also got to perform one of their numbers again and they chose their dance inspired by Gilligan’s Island.

Personally, I was just excited to get to hear the Gilligan’s Island theme song again.

Carlos danced his Magic Mike number again with several of the male pros and let me tell you, they set The Grove on fire!

Victor Espinoza returned with Karina Smirnoff to perform his wonderful number from Week Two, a Jive to “La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens. The hat was back, the hip shaking was back, and oh my goodness I forgot how adorable he is.

Gary Busey and Anna danced a Cha-Cha-Cha to “Dancing in the Street” which was their number in Week One. Also performing again tonight was Hayes and Emma who danced their Contemporary number to “Stitches” which they originally danced during Week Four.

Shortly after that Alexa and Mark took to the dance floor to recreate their Jazz number from Week Three which was inspired by the Breaking Bad theme. I loved getting to see this again.

There were many look backs on this season and so many of these moments got me emotional again. There was also a hilarious blooper reel which is something I always look forward to during the season finales!

Elle King came on and performed her hit number, “Ex’s and Oh’s” while several of the pros performed on the dance floor.

All three finalists got to perform one of their favourite numbers from the season again, starting with Nick and Sharna who chose their Viennese Waltz from Week Three to the theme song from Downton Abbey. It was just as beautiful as the first time they did it.

Alek and Lindsay were next and chose their Jazz number from Week Two to the song “Don’t Stop Believing”. The dance was great and the song always puts me in a good mood so I really enjoyed watching this one again.

Finally, it was Bindi and Derek’s turn and they chose their Viennese Waltz from Week Nine to the song “Roses and Violets”. This number was beautiful and I loved watching it again. It was even more beautiful as the song was performed live by Mark Ballas and BC Jean.

Finally it was time for the Fusion Dances. Here are those scores:

Nick Carter & Sharna Burgess
Dances: Salsa and Tango
Song: “Turn up the Music” – Chris Brown
Score: 30
*Second Place*

Alek Skarlatos & Lindsay Arnold
Dance: Rumba and Tango
Song: “A Sky Full of Stars” – Coldplay
Score: 27
*Third Place*

Bindi Irwin & Derek Hough
Dance: Argentine Tango and Cha-Cha-Cha
Song: “All The Way” – Timeflies
Score: 30
*Winner!*

All three couples did an amazing job this season, but there can be only one winner.

Alek and Lindsay placed third and then it was down to Nick & Sharna and Bindi & Derek. Both these couples have had perfect scores for the past two nights and have had some truly fantastic dances this season, so who had the votes?

After a suspenseful wait it was announced that Bindi and Derek had won! Wooooooooo!

Bindi and Derek

Congratulations Bindi and Derek! Anyone who follows me on Twitter or has been reading these recaps knows that I was rooting for Team Crikey from the start and I am so happy they won!

They did a phenomenal job from Week One and they deserved this so much. I am so proud of them and I am so excited to see where life takes Bindi next and for Season 22.

What did you think of the season finale of DWTS? Who were you rooting for?

Dancing With The Stars Week Eleven Recap: Finals Night One!

Dancing With the Stars S21

It’s finally (ha, see what I did there?) here! The Finals! I can’t believe eleven weeks have passed already and that we’re down to the final four couples (final three after tonight).

Last night the couples had two dances to perform: The Judge’s Choice and The Freestyle.

It was a crazy, amazing, emotional night with some amazing performances from Meghan Trainor, Ariana Grande, and Who Is Fancy, as well as wonderful dances by the pros and the couples!

But like I said before, it wasn’t just the Judge’s Choice dances they had to perform. Each couple also had their Freestyle which is really the dance that will make or break the competition.

Here are those scores:

Carlos PenaVega & Witney Carson
Dance: Freestyle
Song: “WTF (Where They From)” – Missy Elliott feat. Pharrell Williams
Score: 30
*Perfect Score*
*Perfect Night*

Alek Skarlatos & Lindsay Arnold

Bindi Irwin & Derek Hough

Song: “Footprints in the Sand” – Leona Lewis
Score: 30
*Perfect Score*
*Perfect Night*

Three of the couples had a perfect night with scores of 60! Alek and Lindsay were close behind with a score of 57!

Once again Bindi and Derek killed it and their Freestyle absolutely blew me away. I was in tears the whole time and I wasn’t the only one. There wasn’t a dry eye in that audience and even Bindi broke down at the end when a picture of her and her dad appeared, something she’d had no idea was going to happen.

Unfortunately, one couple did need to go home. After Bindi & Derek and Alek & Lindsay were called safe, it was down to Carlos & Witney and Nick & Sharna. In the end, Carlos & Witney were eliminated and Nick & Sharna will be joining the other two in the finals.

There is only one night of competition left and it’s tonight! That’s right, Dancing With The Stars concludes tonight with more amazing dances and someone will be going home with the Mirrorball Trophy!

Who do you think it will be?

Dancing With the Stars Finals Recap

Dancing With the Stars

Here we go! The finals! I can’t believe it’s already here, it went by so quickly!

Tonight the final three couples compete for the title of Dancing with the Stars Season 20 champions. The remaining couples are Noah and Sharna, Rumer and Val, and Riker and Allison.

Each couple danced to a new freestyle number as well as chose a favourite dance they had already performed this season to dance to again to try and get a higher score.

The scores from the encore performances are as follows:

Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess
Dance: Argentine Tango
Song: “Rather Be” – Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne
Score: 32
*First performed this during Week Three: Latin Night and scored 30*

Riker Lynch and Allison Holker
Dance: Paso Doble
Song: “He’s a Pirate” – Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Score: 40
*Perfect Score*
*Perfect Night*
*First performed during Week Five: Disney Night and scored 38*

Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkobskiy
Dance: Foxtrot
Song: “Take Me to Church” – Hozier
Score: 40
*Perfect Score*
*Perfect Night*
*First performed during Week One and scored 32*

All of the couples improved their encore dances, with two of the couples receiving perfect scores. The next dance each couple performed was a freestyle which is the dance that will make or break your season. There’s a reason the freestyle is the final dance each couple performs.

The scores from tonight:

Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess
Dance: Freestyle
Song: “Titanium” – David Guetta feat. Sia & “Fix You” – Coldplay
Score: 40
*Perfect Score*
This was definitely an emotional performance and had many of the audience members in tears. Personally I think this was Noah’s best dance and he did an absolutely phenomenal job. This was some of the best choreography I’ve seen him do this season and I think this really showed why Noah deserved to be in the finals.

Riker Lynch and Allison Holker
Dance: Freestyle
Song: “I Won’t Dance” – Fred Astaire (Also performed by Frank Sinatra)
Score: 40
*Perfect Score*
*Perfect Night*
Riker and Allison did amazing with this job. They were told that their freestyle is exactly what a freestyle is supposed to be and, while I don’t know a ton about dance, going from the smooth beat to the rap/freestyle jumpy beat is definitely what a freestyle looks like to me. Just like Noah and Sharna, this dance definitely proved why they’re in the finals!

Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkobskiy
Dance: Freestyle
Song: “Toxic” – Britney Spears
Score: 40
*Perfect Score*
*Perfect Night*
Val and Rumer had a difficult time practicing this dance because there was so much pressure on them. Val has made it to the finals three times, but never won and they were determined to make this dance their own and prove who they were and that they deserved to be there. I can say with absolute certainty that they did that.

Tonight was tough! Each couple brought their A-game and it was intense. All three couples received perfect scores on their second dances and two of the couples even had a perfect night! Check back tomorrow for the recap of the Finals results!
