Lots of great films being released in 2018 and this is just the start!
Which of these films are you most excited about?
Personally, I can’t wait for The Death Cure or Insidious. Not too sure I’ll paying to see Liam Neeson ride a train though.
A night full of talented stars, awkward jokes, and too-long acceptance speeches. Yes, the Golden Globes are here again!
The event kicked off with an amazing opening number (seriously, how amazing were the kids from Stranger Things?!). This was followed by a monologue that was equal parts awkward and hilarious.
There were, of course, jokes made about Donald Trump and what an awful year 2016 was.
And then it was onto the awards!

Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful holiday season whatever you may have celebrated and I know it’s only the second, but I hope you’re all having a wonderful 2016 so far!
I took a brief break from blogging for a little while at the end of the 2015, why? I got a job. Yes, unfortunately being an unpublished writer doesn’t make much (any) money, but I got a job over the Christmas season working in retail.
The best part? It’s one of my favourite stores (no it’s not a bookstore) and they’re keeping me! Apparently I did an okay job over the Christmas season because even though it’s over now they’re still keeping me on. I’m very excited about this, but I’m also very excited to get back to blogging, fanfiction writing, and novel writing!
Even though I’ll still be working, with the holidays over my hours won’t be as crazy which means I’ll have more time to write and work on blog posts and I’m incredibly excited to get back into it!
I look forward to an awesome and crazy 2016 with you all!

So what do you think? Any of these films sound good? Did you like this post?
The Academy Awards aired last night and once again they were hosted by the amazing Neil Patrick Harris. With so many awards and amazing performances, and even more stand-out moments from the amazing nominees and award winners that are sure to make it a night people will remember.
Reese Witherspoon took to the red carpet and talked about the #AskHerMore campaign in which actresses call out the gender inequality. In an interview, Witherspoon said, “This is a movement to say we’re more than just our dresses. There are 44 nominees this year that are women and we are so happy to be here and talk about the work that we’ve done. It’s hard being a woman in Hollywood, or any industry.” Lena Dunham, Shonda Rhimes, and many others took to Twitter to show their support.
Inside the building, Neil Patrick Harris took to the stage and called out the lack of racial diversity among the nominees.
Patricia Arquette, who won for her role in Boyhood, ended her acceptance speech with a call for women to receive equal pay and equal rights: “To every woman who gave birth to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation: we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all, and equal rights for women in the United States of America.” Truly a stand-out moment that rings so true in our time.
Another moment that rings true comes from John Legend and Common’s speech after their amazing performance of “Glory” from the film, Selma.
“Selma is now. Because the struggle for justice is right now…we know that right now the struggle for freedom and justice is real…there are more black men under incarceration today then there were slaves.” The truth behind these words is harsh and something that needed to be said. Looking at all that has been happening, the significance of these words cannot go unheard or be ignored.
Neil Patrick Harris showed how “difficult” it is to correct one’s self when you mispronounce someone’s name. The actor mispronounced Chiwetel Ejiofor name and then you know what he did? He took a moment and corrected himself. I know, the scandal! It’s that easy people. Stop mispronouncing actors and actresses names just because you can’t be bothered to learn how to pronounce it.
Lady Gaga gave a stunning Sound of Music performance that ended with Julie Andrews coming out on the stage.
It was truly amazing and seeing Julie Andrews there was wonderful. That hug at the end between the Queen of Pop and the Queen of Genovia was something that many people excited and absolutely loving it.
And finally, though there were so many more moments I could talk about, Graham Moore’s acceptance speech for Best Adapted Screenplay of The Imitation Game, Moore spoke about how hard he had it growing up and ended by saying to “stay weird and stay different.” Like the speech givers before him, these were words that so many people watching needed to hear.
The 87th Annual Academy Awards were truly a marvel. Despite the lack of racial diversity, those who did win and stood on that stage made sure no one was forgotten.
Here are the winners of the 87th Academy Awards:

Did you watch the Academy Awards? What was your favourite part of the night?
I hope you’re having a fun and safe holiday. A very infamous film came out yesterday and I thought today would be a good day to talk about it.
If you haven’t guessed from the title, I’m talking about 50 Shades of Grey. Now, at first, I wasn’t sure I wanted to talk about this film. I really don’t want to give it any more attention than it already has. But I also feel it’s important to talk about things that are going in the world, whether they’re good or bad.
In this case, 50 Shades falls under the category of ‘bad’. Written by E.L. James and originally posted online as Twilight fanfiction, 50 Shades of Grey quickly became the fastest selling paperback ever. It beat the record once help by Harry Potter so I don’t think it was really much of a surprise to anyone when they announced it would be turned into a film.
This should have great news. Despite it being Twilight fanfiction, this story had a chance to be great. A look in to the world of BDSM without making a joke about. Except, I don’t think E.L. James ever bothered to look up the description of BDSM.
” An overlapping abbreviation of Bondage and Discipline (BD), Dominance and Submission (DS), Sadism and Masochism (SM).”
” A physical, psychological and usually sexual power-role-play with consensual participants.”
Instead of showing a healthy BDSM relationship, 50 Shades depicts a poorly written story about manipulation and abuse.
‘”We’re going,” he says to me.
“Now?”
“Yes. Now.”
Oh shit, he is not to be argued with.’
‘Holy fuck what has he done to me… I look like I’ve been in some sort of accident… I’m too mad. How dare he mark me like this.’
‘”No, please. I can’t do this. Not now. I need some time. Please.”
“Oh Ana, don’t over think this.”‘
Those are actual quotes from the book. Credit for finding them goes to The Sixth Siren of Pandora. Do any of these quotes sound like a healthy relationship? No. They don’t. However, they do sound like someone in a manipulative and abuse relationship who has been hurt and is too scared to fight back.
It’s perfectly find and healthy to explore BDSM. However, make sure you know what it really is before trying it.
BDSM is not one person guilting the other into submission.
BDSM is not ignoring safe words.
BDSM is not deliberately scaring and hurting the other person.
BDSM is not done without both partner’s consent.
If you read or see 50 Shades of Grey, please remember it is not an accurate depiction of a healthy BDSM relationship. Like I said before, it’s perfectly find to try new things and spice things up a bit, but make sure it’s done in a safe and healthy way that makes all people involved happy.
