Finding Carter Episode Review: “Rumor Has It”

Finding Carter

Season 2 | Episode 9 | Aired May 26, 2015

Last week’s episode was one of things unsaid. There were couples dancing around each other, people keeping secrets, and many, many clichés. Seriously, I think this episode had more clichés than any other episode in the whole series.

We all know that Carter and Max slept together. We also know that Taylor doesn’t know. Well last week Carter and Max were planning on telling Taylor on their camping trip, but it got interrupted by Gabe, Bird, Madison, and Damon.

Max did try to tell her what happened, but instead just ended up telling him about how awful things had been when Carter visited Lori. Taylor then went to Carter and told her Max had told her what happened. I was laughing at this because it’s such a cliché thing to do.

Max and Carter’s secret was the topic of conversation throughout the entire episode and didn’t stay so secret. We hadn’t even reached the half way point in the episode when everyone but Taylor knew what had happened. Once again, very cliché.

At the very end of the episode, Taylor still didn’t know, but it looks like that’s about to come to an end as she found Carter’s necklace in the bed of Max’s truck. Does anyone else find it ironic in these circumstances that it’s called a bed? Boom, big cliché number three.

Now, don’t get me wrong, none of these clichés (are you sick of that word yet? I am) took away from the episode. It was actually really good and I really enjoyed it. While there was still some focus on Elizabeth and David (who it seems might be getting back to together), it was nice for majority of the focus to be back on the teens of the show. And it was nice for the issue they were dealing with to not be Lori-related, but rather something that other teenagers deal with too.

There’s only two episodes left this season! How are we almost at the end already? I can’t wait to see what happens tonight when the truth comes out (I’m assuming).

What did you think of last week’s episode? What do you think is going to happen tonight?

Finding Carter Episode Review: “Riptide”

Finding Carter

Wow, I have fallen so far behind in these reviews! “Riptide” aired three weeks and for some reason I thought it was the mid-season finale, but turns out it wasn’t and then others things happened and now here we are!

“Riptide” starts off by letting viewers know it’s Elizabeth’s birthday. This tells you right off the bat that things are going to go wrong. Why? Because it’s supposed to be a happy time which, in Finding Carter, means the exact opposite will happen.

Things pretty much get turned on their heads right away when Carter’s old friend, Madison, shows up on the doorstep. She immediately starts causing trouble by telling Taylor about stuff that happened to Max and trying to convince Carter to move in with her. She also seems to be on Lori’s side in everything which you know is going to have some sort of repercussion in future episodes. Anyone on Team Lori is not going to be helpful and I’m really not looking forward to this girl sticking around.

I was really sour with Taylor this episode. She freaked out on Max after learning something really personal about him that he hadn’t told her. He then apologized to her and told her anyway! Okay, I get that they were a couple for a while, but that doesn’t mean they had to tell each other everything about their lives. And as they’re not together anymore, Taylor really doesn’t have the right to get angry with Max for not telling her something personal.

Though I do have to say that I really enjoyed the sisterly moments between Carter and Taylor in this episode. I love that no matter what happens with those two or with others, they always seem to stick by each other.

We also got to see that Grant has moved in with his grandparents in this episode, but he and his grandmother, Joan, are returning to the house for Elizabeth’s birthday. There was a really scary moment in this episode where Joan passed out (apparently she forgot to take her heart pills) and I think everyone who watched the episode had a collective heart attack when Elizabeth said she couldn’t find a pulse. Thankfully, she was fine and was back to being sassy grandma not even a minute later, but oh boy!

I also really enjoyed the fact that Elizabeth and David seemed to be getting along so well. They were cooking and having fun together and it was great. Then, at the end of the episode, the whole family was together eating the cake that Grant baked and it was really nice to see them all together again. Of course, this is Finding Carter which means good things don’t last.

Finding Carter Cake

As they’re sitting there eating, Carter gets a message on her newly-returned cell phone telling her that Lori has tried to kill herself. I definitely wasn’t expecting that. I thought it was going to be like she had escaped or been released or something, but not that!

I thought this was a really good episode. There was still a ton of family drama and angst, but it wasn’t outweighing the nice family moments like it has been these past couple weeks.

What did you think of “Riptide”?

My review for last week’s episode, “I Knew You Were Trouble”, will be up tomorrow!

Finding Carter Episode Review: “Something to Talk About”

Finding Carter

Season 2 | Episode 7 | Aired May 12, 2015

In last night’s episode of Finding Carter we saw many things finally come to a head.

Taylor’s downward spiral finally seemed to hit the ground (we’ll see for sure next week). She took more “Study Buddies” several times throughout this episode which resulted in her hitting another car (Carter took the blame and I raged), insulting Bird, almost being late to hand in a college application, and yelling at several members of the study body.

Taylor Car Crash

I’m hoping this breakdown finally means things will start looking up for Taylor now. She deserves to start being happy again, but I have a feeling this isn’t officially the end. After all, there’s still Max and Ofe and Lori and her parents and pretty much everything going against her right now.

It was a very strange episode, knowing that Carter is probably the most sane and relaxed one in their family right now.

We also saw that Grant finally seemed to have had enough. First he stuck Kyle’s phone in the dishwasher, then he skipped school to spend the day at the arcade, and finally he admitted to his parents that he no longer wants to live at home.

Grant Dishwasher\

I felt so bad for Grant last night. I’ve said it before, but he really does just kind of get shoved to the back, doesn’t he? I’m not really surprised by his admission that he wants to live with his grandparents. This whole, ‘mom’s night/dad’s night’ thing Elizabeth and David are trying to do just isn’t working, especially not when they’re spending their nights off with their new boyfriends/girlfriends.

Grant Moving Out

I’m wondering how long Grant will live at his grandparents house though. Will it only be for a couple episodes? The rest of the season? Will this finally be the thing that kicks David and Elizabeth into gear and makes them realize they need to come up with a new way to deal with things? I hope so.

The other big thing that happened last night was Abby getting arrested (by Kyle) after her fiancé (!) reported her to the police for sleeping with a student.

Gabe No

I think we all knew that this was coming. There was no way Gabe and Abby were going to get away with this relationship, but I definitely wasn’t expecting them to get caught this quickly! Or for it to be Gabe’s dad who arrested her! Or for Abby to have a fiancé! It was literally just one thing right after the other. This storyline is definitely not over yet, Gabe’s dad is definitely going to find out it was his son she was sleeping with.

Last night was intense. Next week will probably be even more so. I’m pretty certain next Tuesday is the mid-season finale (so soon?!) and things are going to be crazy.

What did you think of last night’s episode?
