Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Finals: Night 2 Recap!

Dancing With the Stars S21

What an AMAZING night! I can’t believe season 21 is over already, these past several weeks have flown by!

There were some fantastic performances and dances by past contestants as well as a look back on different moments that happened during the competition before we finally got to see the couples perform one final dance: The Fusion Dance.

The show opened in The Grove with a dance number performed by the pros and most of the past contestants from this season.

Chaka Khan returned and sang one of her hit songs, “I’m Every Woman” and Andy Grammer was also back to sing his hit single “Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah)”.

Kim and Tony finally got to perform their I Dream of Jeanie number that they didn’t get to do in the competition after Kim was forced to withdraw due to health reasons. Paula Deen and Louis also got to perform one of their numbers again and they chose their dance inspired by Gilligan’s Island.

Personally, I was just excited to get to hear the Gilligan’s Island theme song again.

Carlos danced his Magic Mike number again with several of the male pros and let me tell you, they set The Grove on fire!

Victor Espinoza returned with Karina Smirnoff to perform his wonderful number from Week Two, a Jive to “La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens. The hat was back, the hip shaking was back, and oh my goodness I forgot how adorable he is.

Gary Busey and Anna danced a Cha-Cha-Cha to “Dancing in the Street” which was their number in Week One. Also performing again tonight was Hayes and Emma who danced their Contemporary number to “Stitches” which they originally danced during Week Four.

Shortly after that Alexa and Mark took to the dance floor to recreate their Jazz number from Week Three which was inspired by the Breaking Bad theme. I loved getting to see this again.

There were many look backs on this season and so many of these moments got me emotional again. There was also a hilarious blooper reel which is something I always look forward to during the season finales!

Elle King came on and performed her hit number, “Ex’s and Oh’s” while several of the pros performed on the dance floor.

All three finalists got to perform one of their favourite numbers from the season again, starting with Nick and Sharna who chose their Viennese Waltz from Week Three to the theme song from Downton Abbey. It was just as beautiful as the first time they did it.

Alek and Lindsay were next and chose their Jazz number from Week Two to the song “Don’t Stop Believing”. The dance was great and the song always puts me in a good mood so I really enjoyed watching this one again.

Finally, it was Bindi and Derek’s turn and they chose their Viennese Waltz from Week Nine to the song “Roses and Violets”. This number was beautiful and I loved watching it again. It was even more beautiful as the song was performed live by Mark Ballas and BC Jean.

Finally it was time for the Fusion Dances. Here are those scores:

Nick Carter & Sharna Burgess
Dances: Salsa and Tango
Song: “Turn up the Music” – Chris Brown
Score: 30
*Second Place*

AlekĀ Skarlatos & Lindsay Arnold
Dance: Rumba and Tango
Song: “A Sky Full of Stars” – Coldplay
Score: 27
*Third Place*

Bindi Irwin & Derek Hough
Dance: Argentine Tango and Cha-Cha-Cha
Song: “All The Way” – Timeflies
Score: 30

All three couples did an amazing job this season, but there can be only one winner.

Alek and Lindsay placed third and then it was down to Nick & Sharna and Bindi & Derek. Both these couples have had perfect scores for the past two nights and have had some truly fantastic dances this season, so who had the votes?

After a suspenseful wait it was announced that Bindi and Derek had won! Wooooooooo!

Bindi and Derek

Congratulations Bindi and Derek! Anyone who follows me on Twitter or has been reading these recaps knows that I was rooting for Team Crikey from the start and I am so happy they won!

They did a phenomenal job from Week One and they deserved this so much. I am so proud of them and I am so excited to see where life takes Bindi next and for Season 22.

What did you think of the season finale of DWTS? Who were you rooting for?

The Walking Dead Top 10 Fave Episodes Countdown: #1!

Here we are! We’ve finally reached #1 on the countdown and you know what that means? The Walking Dead returns tomorrow!

Yes, it is finally here and I am so freaking excited! However, before it gets here, I need to talk about my favourite Walking Dead episode. And that episode is the season five finale, “Conquer”.

This episode was an hour and a half and was completely action-packed and phenomenal! I did have a hard time decided whether this should be number one or two on the list and I switched it around quite a bit with “Consumed”. I ultimately listed this as number one though because this episode features all the characters.

There were so many things that happened this episode, but I’m only going to mention three to keep this from being too long.

First, I loved Carol in this episode! At one point she takes some food over to Pete and then threatens to kill him with her knife, saying no one would believe she had done it on purpose, but just out of self defence.

As if we didn’t already know Carol was badass, this moment definitely proved it and it also showed just how much she’s changed between her first appearance in season one episode three. Pete is exactly like Ed, but unlike season one where she cowered away from confrontation (can’t blame her at all), she knows she has power now. She knows how strong she is and she uses that and it’s so wonderful.

Another moment I loved when Daryl and Aaron’s recruiting trip. They ended up setting off a trap set by the wolves, but thankfully they both make it out alive.

This moment was huge for several reasons. Like Carol, we saw just how much Daryl has progressed since his first appearance on the show throughout his conversation in the car with Aaron in which both of them offered to sacrifice themselves.

This was also huge because it revealed just what the wolves are capable of and it served as the introduction of Morgan to a member of Rick’s group.

And that leads me to the third thing I want to mention about this amazing episode and that is the moment at the end.

While everyone is debating what to do about Rick, Pete shows up with Michonne’s sword. He’s clearly drunk and the end result of this is that he ends up killing Deanna’s husband Reg. I have to admit that this is actually one of the few moments on the show when I had to look away.

Noah’s death and Reg’s death are two that I can’t watch no matter how many times I watch the episodes because of how gruesome they are.

This catastrophe led to a merging of Alexandria and Rick’s group, at least between Rick and Deanna. Deanna finally realized that sometimes you can’t talk your way out of a situation and that in this new world sometimes you have no choice but to kill which is exactly what Rick did to Pete. And he did this right as Daryl and Aaron arrived with Morgan.

This was insane! Oh my gosh, the screen went black and now we’ve been waiting months and months for the show to return.

I was shouting and crying and feeling so many things! From the looks of it, season six picks up basically right after this point and I am so incredibly excited to see what happens.

Thank you so much to everyone who has stuck with me in this countdown. I’ve had a lot of fun and I would love to hear what you think! Which episodes are your favourite?

What are you excited to see in the new season?

I’ll be reviewing the new episode tomorrow night so look forward to that!

The Walking Dead Top 10 Fave Episodes: #8

The season four finale is called “A” and this is a phenomenal episode.

This episode follows Rick, Carl, and Michonne as they reunite with Daryl and the four head to Terminus, only to discover things aren’t quite what they seem.

One of things that probably makes this episode stand out the most is the fact that Rick literally tears someone’s throat out. This is so disgusting and yet I remember watching it for the first time and not even being all that surprised because it’s Rick and his Ricktatorship.

I was definitely freaking out when it happened, but after I was just kind of like, “I mean… yeah… it’s Rick.”

Rick, Michonne, Carl, and Daryl as a team is one of my favourite things in the show just because they’re all so badass and they’re like this weird family.

Rick and Daryl’s reunion in this episode after killing the Claimers is something I know many people (and I’m counting myself in that list) love about “A”. The “You’re my brother” line is so significant, especially after everything that happened earlier this season with everyone being divided. It also really helped set up for what would happen in season five.

My favourite part of this episode, however, wasn’t even in the episode at all. At least, not the version they aired on TV.

After the entire group has been reunited in the train car at Terminus, Rick says: “They’re screwing with the wrong people.”

However, on the DVDs Rick says: “They’re fucking with the wrong people.”

This is soooo much more badass. I know they couldn’t include that line on cable TV, but oh my gosh it sounds so much more amazing. Especially considering everything Rick had done up to that point like, you know, ripping out someone’s jugular with his teeth!

“A” is definitely one of the best episodes in the whole series which is why it’s included in my Top 10 Favourites!

What do you think of “A”?

Zoo Season One Finale Review: “That Great Big Hill of Hope”

Talk about a season finale! Oh my gosh, Zoo did brilliant, absolutely could not have had a better episode to end season one.

“That Great Big Hill of Hope” was so different than all the other episodes in the season with the team actually being separated for majority of the episode.

After the plane went down at the end of last week’s episode, Jamie was rescued from the water by a strange man in a boat. However, the others don’t know this and all presume she, along with the cub (and the cure), are dead.

The others were granted immunity from their past actions in exchange for them agreeing not to talk about what happened. And they don’t talk about it, not even with each other.

Jackson and Chloe have been working with Amelia Sage to try and find a new method of curing the animals, but it is shown that Jackson has really been struggling and was let go from leading a team after months of failures.

Poor Jackson

Abraham has started working as a bodyguard and protecting people from the animals. He and a group of others have taken it on as their job to drive people around and protect them from the animals now out to kill them.

Meanwhile, Mitch has taken up pretty permanent residence on a bar stool and has been drinking away his sorrows. He’s in a perpetual state of misery over losing Jamie and believes he is a failure because he wasn’t able to save her or the cure and couldn’t stop the world falling apart.

It is revealed during their time apart that Reiden Global made a deal with the government. Essentially they would be pardoned of their actions so long as they helped deal with curing the animals. Typical, but I’ll get to that in a minute.

Eventually, the team is brought back together, but not without a lot of drama.

Chloe finds out that a military team in Zambia had found the leopards. Unfortunately, it was too late. The leopards had wandered off their usual territory and were now infected just like all the other animals.

While Jackson is out filling his neighbour’s prescription and grabbing beer he is attacked by baboons, bitten by a dog, and has an epiphany. Mosquitoes are the answer. They bite every living creature, regardless of what it is and they lay their eggs in water so if they inject mosquitoes with the cure then it will be spread in no time.

However, without the leopards it doesn’t matter and it seems like all hope is lost.

It's Over

Then Abraham shows up. The man had been on one of his own runs, driving a man from his home to the hospital when they had stopped at an underground restaurant still serving meat. The man made Abraham realize that now is not the time to push away those you care about, but rather hold them closer than ever.

Jackson and Abraham reconcile and, though they still don’t have a solution, things don’t seem totally hopeless now.

Then something wonderful happens. Jamie calls Mitch. At first he doesn’t believe it’s her (my heart was literally breaking for him, amazing performance Billy Burke, seriously spectacular), but she finally managed to convince him and he was so happy!

Seriously, the fan girl in me was squealing very happily, it was so adorable. Things got even better when Jamie revealed that she still had the cub! Though not really a cub anymore, the fisherman who pulled her from the water that day also saved the leopard cub which means they still have a cure.

Now they the whole team, the cure, and a way to spread the cure, they just needed to get all those things together.

The Team

Mitch calls the others and the four of them are together again, driving to a boat so they can get to Jamie and the cure. However, before they get there they are stopped by a herd of animals who charge them in the road.

And that’s it. That’s where the episode ends. I swear, if this show doesn’t get a second season I will scream. Between Zoo and The Whispers I desperately need to know what’s happening and it’s very much not okay to leave us all hanging!

Alright, so that was a ridiculously long summary of what happened, but last night’s episode was crazy! So much happened and each character had their own little plot and then they all came together, it was great!

Alright, so where do I start? Well, Reiden Global. I said I’d get to that in a minute so let’s talk about that first. I thought that was brilliant what they did with that because it’s so true. RG is a giant company who makes tons of money and basically controls the world so instead of being forced to shut down or re-evaluate everything, they get a slap on the wrist and have to help clean up their mess.

That’s it. That’s all they have to do then they can just go back to what they were doing before. I thought this was so accurate to what actually happens in real life because who hasn’t seen something like that happen with big companies in this day and age.

And then the government was talking about killing all the animals and starting from scratch with rebuilding populations. Are you kidding me?! Yeah, like that’s going to work. Jackson said it best, the human race is just aiding their own demise and extinction.

Killing all the animals and pardoning big companies is exactly what will be the downfall of the human race and I feel like Zoo is showing that brilliantly.

I loved the way they did this episode. It’s always important for a show to have a killer season premier and a killer season finale, especially on the first season if they’re hoping to be renewed (I’m hoping!). And this season finale was killer.

It was so different! I don’t think any of us expected the team to be scattered like that. I assumed (hoped) they would all survive and that when they did they would all still be together.

Instead they were totally separated. It sounded like they talked to each other sometimes, but really had cut themselves off from everyone (expect Jackson and Chloe) and it was both sad and interesting to watch it happen like this.

It was interesting to see how the characters all got on by themselves now. They’d all been so reluctant to work together at first, but now being separated it was like they didn’t know what to do. I just felt so bad for all of them!

I think it really showed a lot of character development when Abraham said the team were friends who became family because at first they were just working together for the sake of figuring out what was going on. Now they couldn’t even look at each other because it was a reminder of their failure, but they couldn’t stay away from each other because they were family.

There's a story there

And the family gained a pet apparently because the cub survived! Oh my goodness, any of you who read my review last week know I desperately wanted to know what happened to the cub and tonight we learned it’s alive! It’s not a cub anymore, not by a long shot (so was Jamie just asleep that whole time or…?)

Yes, the little guy is now a big guy, but still adorable and still holds the key to the cure as Jamie very excitedly told Mitch.

These two are adorable. I know one person who read this ships them just like I do and from looking on Tumblr and Twitter I know a lot of you were very excited at what happened last night.

Mitch basically admitted (drunkenly, yes, but still) that he loved Jamie and it was so incredibly heartbreaking to watch him falling apart and sinking into this deep, dark hole.

Mitch Love

Then they spoke and I was feeling so many emotions all at once it was wonderful. Then, just when things seemed to be looking up and it looked like Mitch and Jamie were going to be reunited, a herd of animals got in the way.

Another character duo I’m glad to see reunited was Jackson and Abraham. I love Chloe and Jackson and I was so happy to see they’d stuck together after everything, but I have to admit I was kind of surprised Jackson and Abraham hadn’t spoken, especially after everything that happened last week!

Not the days

Thankfully the pair made up and the brotherhood was reunited so we got to see Jackson and Abraham and Jackson and Chloe.

Though I have a really bad feeling about Jackson if the show gets another season. They drew attention to that dog bite at the end of the episode and that has to mean something, right? That bite looked really gross and it got me wondering if maybe the animals have advanced so much they can pass the Reiden Global virus onto people?

I mean, we don’t know for sure they can’t, right? Not at this point where when an animal attacks they just kill you. In the beginning when they attacked people maybe they weren’t advanced enough, but that bite looked really nasty and I’m desperately hoping nothing bad happens to Jackson.

From the bite or from the stampede.

Yeah, if you’re going to end your first season, what better way to go out than to have majority of your main cast trapped in a car being charged at by a bunch of blood-thirsty murderous animals?

As if this episode wasn’t crazy enough already, that ending was insane. Every animal you could think of was just stood there, stopping them from reaching the boat and reaching Jamie and the cure. It was like the animals knew who they were and where they going. Then they charged and it turned to a black screen.

What?! Come on, this is worst than last week! At least last week we knew we’d see the aftermath of what happened, this was the season finale! What if it doesn’t get renewed? We’ll never know what happened.

I’ve said before that if a show ends of a cliff hanger and then gets cancelled they should be able to make one more episode just to show what would have happened. Like, a five years later of something. I decided this after watching Heroes and I stand by it. I will especially stand by it if Zoo and The Whispers don’t get renewed.

Please CBS, give us season two! This show was amazing and fantastic and so many other positive adjective! We desperately need to know what happens!

What do you think happened?

Let me know down below what you thought of the season finale and what you think happens next (no spoilers if you’ve read the book)!

Thanks so much for sticking with me over the course of season one, hopefully we’ll be back here next summer for season two!

**Update: As of October 2, 2015 Zoo has been renewed for a second season!**

The Whispers Season Finale Review: “Game Over”

The Whispers

Season 1 | Episode 13 | Aired August 31, 2015

This is it. The season finale. And you know something? They killed it! It was phenomenal!

The whole cast did an absolutely amazing job, the storyline was insane, and I did not see that ending coming at all!

After Cassandra-Drill (Cassandrill?) sent out the message to the others, everyone was on high alert. Claire and Wes try talking to Drill only for him to sacrifice himself (and Cassandra, though she apparently was already gone) before they can really get any answers. They know one thing for sure though, domination is coming.

theyre here

Sean and Wes are both busy following their own leads to try and figure out how to stop Drill when everything suddenly goes downhill. All the kids suddenly seem to be possessed or in some sort of trance and they all scatter, going to wait in different places, Henry and Minx among them.

Sean and Claire are taken hostage by people who we find out were friends with Drill at the same time as Thomas. With Wes and Jessup’s help, they manage to escape and get back to the station when Henry was taken after being caught by police on the way to his location.

While Wes’s boss decides to send war heads into space, Henry reveals to Claire what the true plan is. Drill’s friends aren’t there for the planet, they’re there for the children.

They're here for our children

When the war heads fail to stop Drill’s friends, Sean, Claire, and Wes rush to find Minx before it’s too late. Unfortunately, they’re not successful. Minx, Harper, Nicholas, and all the other children are taken. All except Henry.

Before Henry could be taken Claire pushed him out of the way and was taken into the blue light instead. It is only then Henry awakens from his trance with no idea what just happened.

Well, last week Kylie Rogers had me in tears over Minx, this week it was apparently Kyle Harrison Breitkopf’s turn as Henry turned me into an absolute mess in the last ten minutes tonight.

This was a fantastic season finale. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, I yelled at the screen quite a bit, and I was crying like a baby at the end. It was perfect.

Everything came together. All the remaining main characters were included, Thomas’s father returned to help decipher Drill’s message, and we learned there were more children at the same time as Thomas.

That definitely made a lot of sense. Drill had so many friends in this show that it wouldn’t have made sense for Thomas to be the only one from his generation. This whole concept was also incredibly terrifying.

Once Drill Makes You His Friend

“Once Drill makes you his friend, you’re his friend for life.”

What? No! That’s terrifying! So, what, this alien thing is just in their heads forever? Were they all running scared like Thomas? I’m assuming not since they all so willingly helped Drill kidnap Sean and Claire and take the children. Complete insanity. But maybe that’s exactly what it is.

I mean, I’d imagine that if an alien chose you to be his friend when you were a child it might mess with your head a little. Especially if one day he abruptly stopped talking to you because one of the other children killed him and that all these years Drill 2.0 appeared.

Yeah, can’t really blame these people for not being totally stable.

I wasn’t feeling too stable during this episode. Seriously, these kids don’t just tug at your heartstrings, they break your heart completely! I’ve said time and time again how amazing this entire cast is and the season finale really drove that home.

Lily Rabe, Milo Ventimiglia, Barry Sloane, Derek Webster, and David Andrews all did a great job this episode. Seriously, this is an incredible cast. But the kids really stole the show.

Kylie Rogers, Kyle Harrison Breitkopf, Abby Ryder Fortson, and Kayden Magnuson all played huge roles in this whole show, but this episode in particular they all did an outstanding job. How did the creators of this show manage to find so many incredibly talented kids?

I’ve said several times now that by the end of the end of the episode I was crying and this is true, I was a mess. Wes just got Minx back after all that craziness of almost losing her last week and now she’s gone again! This time to who knows where!

And Claire’s gone! The whole scene just before this where she’s talking to Henry using sign language is what got the tears started, but when she ran and pushed him out of the way I was gone. Henry ‘woke up’ and had no idea what had happened and Sean didn’t really know what had just happened, I imagine he was happy his son was safe, but his wife was just sort of gone. Then Wes got there and now he’s lost Lena, Minx, and Claire.

Seriously?! This is very much not okay!

I kind of laughed though because we obviously don’t know what happens to the children after Drill’s friends took them, it was sort of a “Beam me up, Scotty!” moment where I’m assuming they were taken onto the ships/rocks/whatever they are. But what about Claire?

If this is the case and the children were just taken and not killed then I just imagined the alien’s reaction to Claire suddenly appearing amongst all these children like, “This is not what we ordered!”

That idea made me feel a bit better. At least until the episode ended. Just like that. Again, I say, seriously?!

Is there going to be a season two? I have no idea! I’m still desperately crossing my fingers that there will be, especially after that ending! It was the perfect set up for a second season and I desperately (you can tell it’s desperate cause I’ve used that word twice now) need to know what happened.

I have watched so many shows that get cancelled and just have horribly abrupt endings with no closure. Please ABC, don’t let The Whispers be one of those shows. Tell us what happens next. Give it a second season.

This may have been one of the best season finales I’ve ever seen on a show. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, up until the very end where I was practically on the floor. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but it was so good that I’ll be watching the episode again tomorrow morning and many more times after that.

The cast deserves a huge standing ovation, particularly Kylie Rogers and Kyle Harrison Breitkopf. Seriously, who do we call about giving these kids awards? They were fantastic.

I hope somebody makes Drill pay

I ask you all to join me in crossing your fingers for a second season because I know I can’t be the only one desperate (there it is again) to know what happens next.

In the meantime, let me know what you thought of the finale! Did you see that ending coming?

What are your thoughts on a second season?

Thank you to everyone who has read these reviews and I will hopefully see you next summer with reviews for a season two!

Game of Thrones Season Five Finale: “Mother’s Mercy”

Game of Thrones

Season 5 | Episode 10 | Aired June 14, 2015

****WARNING: This post will contain MAJOR spoilers for the season five finale of Game of Thrones. If you haven’t seen it yet, STOP READING!****

Alright, normally this would’ve been up on Sunday night or Monday morning, but I was still recovering then so here it is.

Anyone who watches Game of Thrones knows that the season finale is going to be epic. Not only that, but with all the build up this season, there were a lot of hints to stuff that might happen and there were a lot of theories floating around. Despite this, I was not prepared for what actually happened.

After last week’s shocking scene involving Stannis’s daughter, Princess Shireen, being burned at the stake as a sacrifice to the Lord of Light, it seems things are not going in Stannis’s favor. While the snow may be melting, granting them passage to Winterfell, half his army has deserted him (presumably because they watched him kill his only child) and his wife hung herself out of grief. Not only that, but Melisandre left! She got on a horse and took off, heading back to The Wall! I think this was probably the moment Stannis realized he wouldn’t be winning this war, but there was no turning back now.

Stannis and what is left of his army march on Winterfell, only to be mercilessly slaughtered by Ramsay and the Bolton army who had been waiting for them. Stannis ends up being killed by Brienne who had been waiting to kill him ever since Stannis and Melisandre killed Renly.

This would have been all well and good if it weren’t for the fact that Brienne had to leave her post of watching over Sansa to kill him. She turned away at the exact moment Sansa lit a candle in the window, the sign that she needed help and wanted to leave. I was shouting at the TV when this happened. Like, of course that’s how it would go. You knew the moment the scene changed from Stannis and his army marching to Sansa at the tower that this was going to happen, but it was still so infuriating!

So, needless to say we weren’t off to a good start. This all happened in I think less than half an hour and we’re already down one main character, one secondary character, and an entire army. We also may be down a Stark sister.

As Ramsay’s army returns, Sansa is cornered by Myranda who threatens her with a bow and arrow. In a shocking turn of events (though one I think we all saw coming in some way), Theon kills Myranda and he and Sansa make their escape by jumping off the wall of Winterfell. And that was it. That’s the last we saw of them. Um, what? I’m assuming they didn’t die, but at the same time I’ll find it really hard to believe if neither of them suffered an injury that didn’t slow down their escape from Ramsay and his army.

Sansa and Theon Jump

I’ve kind of been able to predict where things were going so far, but I’m totally stumped here and honestly? I don’t want to know what’s going to happen. This’ll be one of the things I’ll be waiting for in season six, to see what on earth happened to Sansa and Theon. Hopefully they’ll be able to do more with her character next season and make Sansa the badass we all know she can be.

Speaking of badasses, Arya finally crossed another name off her list on Sunday night when she killed Meryn Trant. She used one of the faces to trick him into letting her close and then killed him. However, Meryn Trant wasn’t the one she was supposed to kill and because of this, she was punished by the Many Faced God and it seems she becomes blind.

arya Blind

This is pretty significant for two reasons. First, as many have speculated, this is symbolic because Arya was so blinded by hatred when she killed him that she was punished by becoming actually blind. It was also incredibly significant because one of the first things she does to Meryn Trant is stab him in the eyes. I’ll be intrigued to see if she remains blind and how this will affect her character in the future.

So, what are we at now? Stannis, his wife, his entire army, Meryn Trant, Myranda, and possibly Sansa and Theon. And we’re not done yet!

Myrcella began her journey back to King’s Landing with Trystane, Jaime, and Bronn. On the way there it was revealed that she knows Jaime is actually her father and has known for ages, possibly even her whole life. Now, I’m not down with incest, pretty certain no one is. But something that’s always interested me and, if the internet is anything to go by, many other fans, is the relationship between Jaime and the children.

We don’t see a whole lot of interaction between them, but I think it’s always been pretty obvious that he probably cared for them more than Robert did. This scene solidified that. Myrcella didn’t care that her uncle was also her father, she loved him and was fine with it and Jaime looked so happy then that I couldn’t stop aw’ing. It was really sweet.

Jaime and Myrcella

And then she died. Yup, in true Game of Thrones fashion, something adorable happened and then Myrcella died, seemingly from poison given to her by Ellaria. Now this isn’t going to stand. Jaime is going to lose it; Cersei is going to lose it; Tommen, the poor boy, isn’t going to know what to do, but he’ll have no choice but to do something now. As for Trystane, he’s going to have to pick a side. I have a feeling there’s a war coming and it isn’t going to be pretty.

Now, things weren’t too pretty for Cersei this episode. The High Sparrow said she could return to the Keep until her trial. Great, sounds perfect. By that time Jaime would probably be back with Myrcella and he could deny the accusations as well. But! There was a catch. Cersei was forced to have her hair cut off and then was stripped and had to walk through the streets, all the way back to the castle, completely naked. All the while, people in the city were throwing things at her and shouting obscenities at her.

Cersei is one of those characters we love to hate. But I felt so bad for her in this moment. I mean, she’s essentially being punished for loving someone everyone else says is wrong. She’s being called a whore and a bitch and a ton of other words I can’t list here and being completely humiliated in front of everyone and I genuinely felt bad for her.

When she makes it back to the castle she is carried off to get cleaned up by a knight whose face we do not see, but he is a giant. I’m wondering if this is The Hound? Since we never actually learned what happened to him? He seemed way too big though, so I’m not really sure. Whoever it was, I can’t wait to see what happens next. What is Tommen going to do when he finds out? What is Jaime going to do?

What is Cersei going to do when she finds out her daughter is dead? I don’t think this’ll help with denying the incest thing because Myrcella died in Jaime’s arms. I don’t think he’ll be able to hide his grief. He’s had to hide the fact that he was their father all their lives and he finally got to see what it was like to have one of his kids acknowledge him for who he really was to them. I don’t think he’ll be able to continue with the facade anymore.

And can I just take a minute here to address something? I see a lot of people saying how sexist the show is because they’ll show breasts and a vagina, but won’t show a penis. While I agree that there are parts of the show that come across as being kind of sexist (I’m not getting into that right now), I don’t know what show you’re all watching cause I’ve seen penis all over the place, including right in front of Cersei during her walk of shame.

Back to the review. Dany flew off at the end of last week’s episode on Drogon’s back. This week she’s who knows where with him and he’s being lazy. Mr. Badass Dragon just slept in his pile of bones while Dany is stranded and unable to get back to ruling her kingdom. Ruling therefore fell to Tyrion who finally met up with Varys again, where’s that guy been? I can’t wait to see where that goes. Maybe Tyrion can become king. I’d be okay with that. What do you think?

Alright, on to the thing that has had most people talking: Jon Snow. I think most of the time, fans of the show, whether we’ve read the books or not, can predict a death. This one, I didn’t see coming. Now I want to remind everyone that I haven’t read all the books yet so for all I know he might not be dead. I don’t want to know until next season.

All I know is the Sam and Gilly left The Wall and little Olly told Jon that one of the Wildlings knew Jon’s Uncle Benjen. Jon went running and instead he had a bunch of Crows stab him “For The Wall”. And you know what happened? Jon Snow died.

Jon Snow

Are. You. Kidding. Me? No! I mean, Jon Snow has never been my favourite character, I even said earlier this season that all that stuff at The Wall sometimes bores me, but I didn’t want him to die! He’s one of the last remaining Starks! Rickon is who knows where, Bran is off at the tree, Arya is blind, and Sansa is maybe dead! This is not okay! The writers need to stop torturing the Stark children! What did they ever do to you? I know they have Boromir’s DNA, but that is no reason to keep killing them off!

This season finale was intense. Maybe the most intense season finale I’ve seen yet. There were several good battles this season, some fantastic character development, some wonderful moments between characters, and there were also some really awful things that happened. Overall I think season five was pretty fantastic and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in season six. I reckon this’ll finally be when they have a big war, but I’ve been saying that all season and I said it last season too so I’m probably wrong.

But what do you think? Did you enjoy the season finale? Whose death shocked you the most? Predictions for season six?

I’ll be back with more reviews when the new season starts! Anything you guys would like to see change in those reviews? Anything else you’d like to see about Game of Thrones? I’ve been thinking I might go back through all the season and rate different things that happened in the show.

Maybe I’ll do the same thing I did with The Walking Dead season finale and react with GIFs. What do you think?

Thanks so much for sticking with me this season! I’m glad to know we could go through this together!

Meanwhile… on the Narrow Sea

Dancing With the Stars Finale Results Recap

Dancing With the Stars

Here we go! The finale! The competition this season was tough and tonight was the night to see if all their hard work paid off. One of the remaining three couples was to be awarded the Mirror Ball Trophy!

Before we move right into the recap of tonight, here’s a reminder of how things stood last night.

Riker Lynch and Allison Holker
Score: 80

Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkobskiy
Score: 80

Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess
Score: 72

The finale tonight started off with an amazing dance featuring all the stars and pros from this season before they then moved onto a recap of last night.

Last night, on the Dancing With the Stars Twitter, they asked which freestyle routine viewers wanted to see again. The people voted and we got to see an encore presentation of Riker and Allison’s amazing freestyle (which you can watch below).

Riker and Allison weren’t done yet though because the next dance we saw was a shortened version of their Jive from Week One.

Now, this night isn’t just about the finalists. We also get to see performances from many of the stars from this season and past seasons as well as a few special guests. The first of these was Redfoo singing his song “Juicy Wiggle” which is ridiculously catchy.

One of the comments made tonight was that Week One seems so long ago and I definitely have to agree. I can’t believe how fast this season has gone by! We got to have another look back at the past ten weeks and it’s crazy to see all the stuff that happened in those weeks.

The next performance we saw was from Charlotte and Keo who danced to “California Gurls” and I have to say, I was really loving the fact that they had someone dressed in a shark costume. That shark has become obnoxiously famous and I love it.

After that we got to see a dance from Alfonso Ribeiro and Sadie Robertson, last season’s champion and second place winner. It was also announced that Alfonso would be taking over for Tom as host of America’s Funniest Home Videos this fall!

Suzanne and Tony were back to perform their Week Three Samba. The dance was great, but I’m not going to lie, I would have loved to see their Three’s Company number again if only because of all the nostalgia it brings.

Viewers then got to watch a very strange compilation of moments that, despite being picked up by the camera, weren’t picked up by the microphones, so they had several members of the DWTS team try to figure out what they were saying in a “Bad Lip-Reading” compilation. It’s safe to say this was the strangest thing I’ve ever seen on this show.

However, the next thing we saw was not strange at all, but actually pretty fantastic. An encore performance from Robert and Kym of their Week One. I have to ask, what is going on with them? Is there anything or are they really close friends?

Like I said earlier, this night isn’t just about the finalists and we finally got to see a performance from one of those special guests I was talking about earlier. Jason Derulo performed his hit single, “Want to Want Me”, while several of the pros danced on stage.

Noah and Sharna were next, accompanied by Derek and Amy, performed a beautiful Argentine Tango before we then got to see Chris and Whitney doing their Footloose dance from Week One. A lot of week one dances coming back tonight.

One of the things I love about them having these separate results shows is that we get to look back on the things that happened so far in the competition. This includes looking back on all the crazy weeks that the couples had to dance to. From team dances to Disney night to spring break, the stuff these dancers have to do is crazy!

After this wonderful look back, we got to see what was one of my favourite dances of the competition. Nastia, Derek, and Sasha performed a Charleston, accompanied by the amazing Andy Grammer. They first performed this number during the first week Derek was hurt and couldn’t dance with Nastia and I absolutely loved it so I was so excited to see them doing it again.

Lots of encore performances tonight! Val and Rumer were the next couple to dance to one of their previous dances, in this case it was their Salsa from Week Three and they did just as amazing this time as they did then.

Also doing just as amazing as they did the first time were Willow and Mark who were shockingly eliminated in Week Seven. I definitely thought they would be in the finals this season, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. However, they did come back and perform their absolutely stunning Alice in Wonderland Foxtrot from Disney Week!

I really enjoy that the couples come back and perform these amazing dances again. I also really enjoy seeing the behind the scenes footage from the show which is what we saw next. The DWTS bloopers were absolutely hilarious. I never realized just how much stuff went wrong behind the scenes and before the show!

The next special guest to perform was Fifth Harmony with their single “Worth It”, accompanied by several of the female pros. All the girls in this number did a phenomenal job, both in the dance and the song.

We’re now half way through the finale, but nowhere close to being done! The female pros had their turn, now it was the guy’s turn and I swear these guys will take any opportunity to take their shirts off.

Sia was the next special guest to take the floor performing “Elastic Heart” as Derek and Julianne (and Joey and Emma, two amazing child dancers) performed an absolutely beautiful number. I actually had to rewind this a few times because I wasn’t sure where to look. Derek and Julianne did amazing, but those kids! Oh my gosh!

It’s a night to look back and this time we got to take another look at the heartbreaking and touching moments that happened over the course of the season. It has definitely been an emotional season.

Patti and Artem were back to perform their Salsa from Week Two to the song “In Da Club” by 50 Cent. This isn’t the last of Patti in the finale though as later in the show she returned to perform her song, “Two Steps Away”

And now, it’s finally that time. The twenty-four hour fusion challenge. What is the twenty-four hour fusion style? Good question. Last night the couples were assigned a new dance which was a ‘fusion’ of two dances.

Watching the videos for the couples was actually really emotional as it was their last rehearsal together and the viewers have seen how much each of the stars has grown over these past ten weeks.

The fusion dances will be judged out of 40 like all the previous dances and their scores from tonight will be added to their scores from last night for an overall total

Here are the scores for the fusion dances:

Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess
Dance: Cha Cha/Argentine Tango
Song: “Surrender” – Cash Cash feat. Julia Michaels
Score: 36
Total: 108

Riker Lynch and Allison Holker
Dance: Salsa/Quickstep
Song: “Classic” – MKTO
Score: 40
Total: 120
*Perfect Night*
*Perfect Finale*

Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkobskiy
Dance: Foxtrot/Paso Doble
Song: “Big Jet Plane” – Angus and Julia Stone
Score: 40
Total: 120
*Perfect Night*
*Perfect Finale*

And there we have it, the final dances of season 20! The only thing left was to tally up the votes for the third, second, and first place couples in this competition! All of these couples worked so hard this season and I really think at this point it was anyone’s game. Unfortunately though, there can only be one winner.

But! Before we get to the results, there was one more performance to be had. Patti LaBelle returned to sing her song, “Two Steps Away”. She truly is a woman of many talents.

Now, onto the results. Riker and Allison, Noah and Sharna, Rumer and Val. Only one of them can win.

In third place, Noah and Sharna. They did such an amazing job this season and I am so glad they made it to the finals.

Noah and Sharna

However, it’s now down to two. Riker and Allison, and Rumer and Val. Who will win? This is tough. I really liked both of them and I literally had no clue who would win.

Riker and Allison

The winners for this season of Dancing With the Stars were Rumer and Val!

Rumer and Val

Honestly, I was voting for Riker and Allison, but I’m still so happy with this outcome. Rumer and Val worked so hard and did such an amazing job and they truly deserved it.

I’m also really proud of Riker and Allison for making it all the way to the finals. It’s so amazing and I’m really happy for all three couples for making it as far as they did.

And that’s it! Season twenty is over which means my recaps are done for now. Did you enjoy them? Yes? No? Maybe?

Can’t wait for next season!

Once Upon a Time Season Four Finale: “Operation Mongoose”

Once Upon a TimeRun: October 23, 2011-Present
Created by: Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz
Prod. Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, Steve Pearlman, David H. Goodman
Genre: Fantasy, Drama, Adventure, Mystery
Starring:Ginner Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Josh Dallas, Emilie de Ravin, Colin O’Donoghue, Jared S. Gilmore, Michael Socha, Robert Carlyle, Sean Maguire, Georgina Haig, Elizabeth Lail, Elizabeth Mitchell, Scott Michael Foster, Kristen Bauer van Straten, Lee Arenberg, Beverley Elliott, Patrick Fischler, Timothy Webber, Victoria Smurfit, Merrin Dungey, Faustino Di Bauda, Christie Laing, Rebecca Mader, Raphael Alejandro, Eion Bailey, Abby Ross

First time reviewing/recapping an episode of Once Upon a Time! I had wanted to review OUAT for a while, but I fell behind a couple episodes and I didn’t want every show I review to start more than half way through the season. However, I like reviewing season finales to get a taste of the show and get an idea of what you all think and then hopefully I can start reviewing next season from the beginning.

So, Once Upon a Time has a history for having some crazy season finales and they definitely did not disappoint last night. This episode, oh boy, it was a rollercoaster from beginning to end. First, The Author changed the entire story.

Snow White

Everything was backwards! Snow and Charming were evil, Hook wasn’t the captain, Gold was a brave knight and was married to Belle, and Robin and Regina were both thieves competing with one another, while he was set to marry Zelena.

However, as grim as it looked at some points, this is Once Upon a Time! Good always wins, Henry’s been saying that since season one. And he was right, they defeated The Author and things went back to normal. When The Author changed the story and gave himself a happy ending, he broke the rules and was no longer “The Author”. It turns out, Henry is the new Author and was able to use his magic to restore Storybrooke to how it was supposed to be.

But this is a Once Upon a Time season finale, and in true OUAT style, things turned horribly, horribly wrong in the last five minutes. As everyone is celebrating their return to normal (which includes Lily staying in Storybrooke and Robin and Regina going for an adorable moonlit walk), Belle bursts in a says that Rumple’s heart is almost gone and when that happens all that will remain in The Dark One. Of course that’s all that will remain. And of course it happens now. This show is supposed to have happy endings!

Season 4

They remove the darkness from his heart and put a spell on him to make sure he doesn’t die before they can figure out how to help him. However, the darkness cannot be contained and escapes. While Snow and Charming run after it, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice tells Emma and Hook that the only way to defeat the darkness is by finding the sorcerer, Merlin (I’ll get to my reaction on that in just a second).

As the darkness tries to surround Regina, Emma says she has waited too long to get her happy ending and binds the darkness to herself using the dagger. In the last scene we see the dagger now contains the name ‘Emma Swan’.

emma Swan

Alright, where do I start? The whole thing where the characters were reversed in the alternate world? Loved it! That was so fun to watch and I can only imagine how fun it was to be the actors and actresses suddenly getting to switch roles. I also loved the bit with Henry becoming the next Author and how he snapped the pen. I know a lot of people felt he was kind of useless this season and, despite not being as involved this season, I have to disagree. Henry spent the first three seasons being a pivotal character (especially during the Peter Pan arc), I thought it was about time to give the kid a bit of a break and focus on some other things. Besides, with his mother now The Dark One, imagine the arc he’s going to have in season five!

But those last ten minutes… oh man…

The thing I love about Once Upon a Time is that it can be cheesy and predictable, but it does it in a way that works. When Emma decided to let the darkness take her and Killian ran over, everyone watching knew she was going to tell him she loved him. She hadn’t said it, she had evaded those very words only a few minutes prior. But I didn’t feel like it was wasted. I didn’t feel like it was cheesy or overdone. It worked, as these things typically do on this show.

I love you

As I was watching it I was just sitting back going, “Of course! Of course this has to happen! A season focused on happy ending cannot have a happy ending!” She just forgave her parents, and Henry was happy, and she was getting along with Regina, and she told Hook she loved him! And now she’s The Dark One.

Good Grief

Now, I can’t end this review without talking about Merlin. I was a little confuse at first, but I’ve learned to just role with the unexpected on this show. And, while unexpected, Merlin is a welcome addition. I love Arthurian/Merlin legends and will watch/read pretty much anything I can get my hands on that involves this stuff so I am definitely excited to see what is going to happen with that in the next season.

Honestly, I loved the season finale. I was definitely left with a lot of questions though. Where did Emma go? What’s going to happen to Hook now? What are they going to tell Henry? Will Robin and Regina get a happy ending? What about Zelena?

So many questions and so many months to wait until season five

What did you think of “Operation Mongoose”? What do you think is going to happen in season five? Thoughts on Merlin?

Criminal Minds Season Ten Finale Review: “The Hunt”

Criminal Minds.Run: September 22nd, 2005-Present
Created by: Jeff David
Genre: Police Procedural, Crime Drama, Action, Thriller
Starring: Joe Mantegna, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Thomas Gibson

I’ve been avoiding reviewing episodes of Criminal Minds and pretty much every other show like this that I watch. If CSI:NY or Miami were still on, I would want to review them, but I wouldn’t. Why? Because so much happens! But not in a Game of Thrones sort of way, like covering ten character storylines in one episode. More in a, police/medical jargon, flicking back and forth between the cops and killers and I need to make sure I keep up sort of way. But, at the same time, I’ve been wanting to try this for a while. So I figured that a heart-pounding season finale might be a good place to start. So, here we are.

So, the season ten finale of Criminal Minds aired last night and I have been on the edge of my seat with this one since the end of last week. Last week we saw Kate’s niece, Meg, and Meg’s best friend, Markayla, get in a van with “Bobby’s Mom”. Now, we all knew this lady was not Bobby’s mom and we all knew that Bobby was not really Bobby. However, we had to wait until last night to find out what was going on.

The Season Finale

Well, apparently what was going on, was human trafficking. Not sex trafficking, oh no, serial killing trafficking. These people would kidnap people and then sell them online to serial killers. Really?! I love this show, but it also makes me scared to leave the house (and scared to be in my house sometimes).

There were three primary people involved in the kidnapping, one of whom turned out to be a victim herself, kidnapped twenty-two years prior, and her son (who is also the son of her kidnapper). Talk about family drama. They had kidnapped Meg and Markayla to get back at Kate, who had inadvertently been investigating them for months.

Kate had been digging into an old case that she believed there was more to. Well, turns out she was right. The killer that they caught during that case was actually one of the customers of the serial trafficking website. Kate’s investigation was bringing her closer and closer to finding out the truth. To get back at her, and because they knew they would never be able to take Kate, the criminals went for the next best thing: Meg and Markayla.

I felt like this episode was one of those that sort of acted as a lesson or a cautionary tale. At one point, Markayla actually manages to escape the kidnappers after Meg kicks one of them. We later learn that this was all part of a plan Meg had come up with, using some of the knowledge that Kate had given her. And even though Kate was blaming herself throughout the whole episode, I feel like her lessons to Meg were really lessons to everyone watching. Having a panic word and what to do in an emergency, something most people do go over, but I doubt kidnapping was ever on anyone’s mind.

Now thankfully they managed to rescue Meg. Though, not going to lie, I was a little concerned there that she might lose more than some of her hair at the hands of the creepy guy that bought her. But the BAU saved the day and JJ actually killed the serial killer before he could hurt Meg and we got to see a happy reunion between Meg, Kate, and Chris.

All through this episode it seemed like there had been something going on with JJ. I’m not sure what it was, there was just something… off. Was I the only one who thought so? Was I imagining it? Maybe. But then at the end of the episode during a conversation we Reid, we learn that JJ is pregnant again. This is, of course, to tie in with AJ Cook’s real-life pregnancy, and I am so excited! I love JJ and Henry is adorable, and I have to admit that Reid’s face when JJ said he’d be getting another godchild was too adorable for words.

However, not all good things were happening at the end of this episode. Once again, the season finished off with a member of the team walking away. Kate left, so as to spend more time with Meg and the new baby once it arrived. I had mixed feelings about her leaving. I enjoyed her character and JLH is a wonderful actress, but I also feel like we didn’t learn a whole lot about her character to really feel sad about her going.

I was really worried about how this episode was going to turn up. They’d been building up to something like this happening for a while, ever since we saw the girls send their picture to “Bobby” over messenger. As soon as they got in that car last week I was excited that we had finally reached this point in the season and would get to see what happened, but I was also kind of sitting here like, “Are they really going to be able to do this in one episode?”

There was so much build up and anticipation, how on earth could they sort this whole thing out in one episode? But they did it. They did and it turned out amazing. It was creepy, and heart pounding, and a little confusing, all of which are aspects of a great episode of Criminal Minds. It’s a show that is both entertaining to watch, makes it hard to sleep at night, but it also makes you think. And I was definitely thinking a lot during this episode so I would say it was a success.

So, season ten is over. Season eleven has yet to be announced which has me slightly worried because the ending of this season was very, final, I guess. There were still things left unfinished and stuff up in the air, but there was no crazy killer looking at a member of the team through a scope or anything. If they cancelled it now and wanted to end it, it’s not like we’re left with some big cliffhanger.

However, I’m hoping they don’t cancel it and that it does come back for another season. I always prefer that if a series is over then it gets a proper farewell and not a half-goodbye. Plus I would love to see Reid with his new godchild. And who would they get to fill Kate’s spot?

What did you think of the season finale? Thoughts on the new season?
