What did you think of the first week of dances? Who are you voting for?

Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Finals: Night 2 Recap!

Dancing With the Stars S21

What an AMAZING night! I can’t believe season 21 is over already, these past several weeks have flown by!

There were some fantastic performances and dances by past contestants as well as a look back on different moments that happened during the competition before we finally got to see the couples perform one final dance: The Fusion Dance.

The show opened in The Grove with a dance number performed by the pros and most of the past contestants from this season.

Chaka Khan returned and sang one of her hit songs, “I’m Every Woman” and Andy Grammer was also back to sing his hit single “Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah)”.

Kim and Tony finally got to perform their I Dream of Jeanie number that they didn’t get to do in the competition after Kim was forced to withdraw due to health reasons. Paula Deen and Louis also got to perform one of their numbers again and they chose their dance inspired by Gilligan’s Island.

Personally, I was just excited to get to hear the Gilligan’s Island theme song again.

Carlos danced his Magic Mike number again with several of the male pros and let me tell you, they set The Grove on fire!

Victor Espinoza returned with Karina Smirnoff to perform his wonderful number from Week Two, a Jive to “La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens. The hat was back, the hip shaking was back, and oh my goodness I forgot how adorable he is.

Gary Busey and Anna danced a Cha-Cha-Cha to “Dancing in the Street” which was their number in Week One. Also performing again tonight was Hayes and Emma who danced their Contemporary number to “Stitches” which they originally danced during Week Four.

Shortly after that Alexa and Mark took to the dance floor to recreate their Jazz number from Week Three which was inspired by the Breaking Bad theme. I loved getting to see this again.

There were many look backs on this season and so many of these moments got me emotional again. There was also a hilarious blooper reel which is something I always look forward to during the season finales!

Elle King came on and performed her hit number, “Ex’s and Oh’s” while several of the pros performed on the dance floor.

All three finalists got to perform one of their favourite numbers from the season again, starting with Nick and Sharna who chose their Viennese Waltz from Week Three to the theme song from Downton Abbey. It was just as beautiful as the first time they did it.

Alek and Lindsay were next and chose their Jazz number from Week Two to the song “Don’t Stop Believing”. The dance was great and the song always puts me in a good mood so I really enjoyed watching this one again.

Finally, it was Bindi and Derek’s turn and they chose their Viennese Waltz from Week Nine to the song “Roses and Violets”. This number was beautiful and I loved watching it again. It was even more beautiful as the song was performed live by Mark Ballas and BC Jean.

Finally it was time for the Fusion Dances. Here are those scores:

Nick Carter & Sharna Burgess
Dances: Salsa and Tango
Song: “Turn up the Music” – Chris Brown
Score: 30
*Second Place*

Alek Skarlatos & Lindsay Arnold
Dance: Rumba and Tango
Song: “A Sky Full of Stars” – Coldplay
Score: 27
*Third Place*

Bindi Irwin & Derek Hough
Dance: Argentine Tango and Cha-Cha-Cha
Song: “All The Way” – Timeflies
Score: 30
*Winner!*

All three couples did an amazing job this season, but there can be only one winner.

Alek and Lindsay placed third and then it was down to Nick & Sharna and Bindi & Derek. Both these couples have had perfect scores for the past two nights and have had some truly fantastic dances this season, so who had the votes?

After a suspenseful wait it was announced that Bindi and Derek had won! Wooooooooo!

Bindi and Derek

Congratulations Bindi and Derek! Anyone who follows me on Twitter or has been reading these recaps knows that I was rooting for Team Crikey from the start and I am so happy they won!

They did a phenomenal job from Week One and they deserved this so much. I am so proud of them and I am so excited to see where life takes Bindi next and for Season 22.

What did you think of the season finale of DWTS? Who were you rooting for?

Dancing With The Stars Week Nine Recap: “Showstopper Night”

Dancing With the Stars S21

We’re almost at the end of the competition! Next week is the semi-finals! What? How did that happen?!

Showstoppers night was full of amazing dances and some incredibly heartbreaking moments. Here are the scores for last night:

Alek Skarlatos & Lindsay Arnold
Dance: Salsa
Song: “Back it Up” – Prince Royce feat. Jennifer Lopez & Pitbull
Score: 24

Alexa PenaVega & Mark Ballas
Dance: Contemporary
Song: “Make it Rain” – Ed Sheeran
Score: 30
*Perfect Score*
*Perfect Night*
*Eliminated*

Carlos PenaVega & Witney Carson

Bindi Irwin & Derek Hough

Song: “Roses and Violets” – Alexander Jean
Score: 30
*Perfect Score*
*Perfect Night*

Tamar Braxton & Val Chmerkovkiy
Dance: Contemporary
Song: “Wicked Game” – James Vincent McMorrow
Score: 22
*Lowest Score of the Night*
*It should be noted that Tamar and Val’s score is actually based on a video of their dress rehearsal as Tamar wasn’t there for the actual dance. She was taken to the hospital during dress rehearsal to be treated for pneumonia. She returned later for the Showstopper number and if she hadn’t they would have been eliminated for the same reason as Kim & Tony.*

Nick Carter & Sharna Burgess
Dance: Quickstep
Song: “A Cool Cat in Town” – Tape Five
Score: 28

But it wasn’t just the one dance the couples had to do.

They also had their Showstopper numbers to perform in which two of the couples teamed up to recreate a number from a well known show or musical.

Not only that, but the celebs in each team had to dance with each other for thirty seconds without their pro dance partners.

Here are those scores:

Alek & Lindsay and Carlos & Witney
Dance: Paso Doble
Song: “We Will Rock You” – Queen
Show: We Will Rock You
Score: 24
*Lowest Showstopper Score*

Alexa & Mark and Bindi & Derek
Dance: Charleston
Song: “All That Jazz” & “Hot Honey Rag” – Kander and Ebb
Show: Chicago
Score: 30
*Perfect Score*

Nick & Sharna and Tamar & Val
Dance: Rumba
Song: “Hey Jude” – The Beatles
Show: Love by Cirque du Soleil
Score: 27

This was such an emotional show. Alexa and Mark’s dance had me tears, it was so beautiful and Alexa sharing her story was absolutely magnificent.

Many of the couples were feeling the pressure, Alek and Lindsay were trying to prove that they deserved to go the semi-finals while Bindi and Derek were trying to deal with all the extra pressure added from being on top of the leader board so often.

Next week is the semi-finals which means a couple had to leave tonight. After a lot of waitoing to see who would be called safe it came down to two couples: Carlos & Witney and Alexa & Mark.

alexa and mark

It was husband against wife and it was heartbreaking. In the end, Alexa & Mark were eliminated and Carlos’s reaction broke my heart. Alexa said she was glad to go out on such a great night, but that didn’t make it any easier for her husband.

What did you think of this elimination? Who do you think will be making it to the finals?

Tonight was intense! I can’t believe each couple had to learn four dances this week, they all did such an amazing job!

I would like to say congratulations to Nick and Lauren Carter who are expecting their first baby! Nick did a beautiful dance tonight honouring his wife and it had me in tears it was so beautiful.

There were two couples in jeopardy this week, Carlos & Witney and Andy & Allison. Unforunately, the couple eliminated was Andy & Allison.

Andy and Allison

I was so sad about this! Andy performed what I think was his best dance of the competition and I really wish he hadn’t been eliminated, but I’m so proud of far he made it and so excited to see what he does next.
